Downloading programmes to Sky Go whilst abroad

Why can't you download programmes to watch offline on sky go when abroad. I understand I can and have downloaded prior to leaving home, but am spending longer at my parents in Spain and want to download more programmes. I kn ow you cannot stream but download offline, when I pay for my SKY Q, F1 but cannot watch F1 races on the Sky Go or Sky Sports App, even with a VPN.  Apparently you can if you have NOW TV but sky subscription doesn't allow you to use on NOW and have to pay separately for the same on NOW TV. This is appalling SKY!!

Yes you do download before whilst in UK which I did but as away longer at my parents wanted to download programmes that have been on since I left home. Its not streaming so I don't know why we can't download to watch offline, very poor of Sky.

Facilitating downloading would be distribution, and Sky isn't licensed by the rights owners to distribute content to client devices outside the subscription country.

You can thank Brexit voters for the end of 'portability' access in Spain and other European countries : whether that might be by stream or download is irrelevant because it was EU regulation which created a temporary exemption to rights control and so permitted distribution.

NowTV will not permit viewing either, and typically Now is streaming-only anyway.
