Does sky go only record on sky Q boxes?

Suspect I know the answer to this one but here goes. I have a Sky+ HD 2TB box. I have been using the Sky+ app to set remote rocordings on this box. Got the message that the Sky+ app will not be supported past 31 May was directed to the Sky go app.

But the Sky go app won't sync with my Sky+ HD 2TB box and only has options for "connect to Sky Q box". Is the Sky go app meant to sync with a Sky+ HD box or do I lose the ability to remote record after 31 May?

The good news is you can set the recordings to your Sky+ box from the Sky Go app so if you give a go by setting one you should set it appear on your box. You can't sync the app to the box in the same way that you can with the Sky+ app but you can keep using this app for the time being anyway as the 31st is a while off yet.

In my view, this is a cyncial ploy to get people off the older boxes, of which I have two.

The HD+ app is far superior in that regard as where I record depends on the content and this is easy to set on the fly within the app.

I only saw the reference to Q too so I reached out for support and was given a useless Q guide, even though I told them I had HD+

So back to them a second time and this just landed:

Dear Customer

Thank you for replying us.

This email is in regards to you are unable to connect Sky Go with Sky +HD Box.

I would certainly be more than glad to address your concerns.

I wish to inform you that It isn't possible to connect the Sky Go app to a Sky+ box as it can only connect to a Sky Q one.

However, if we receive any update how to connect Sky Go with Sky +HD Box we will notify.

I appreciate your patience understanding in this matter

I look forward to receiving this information at your earliest convenience.

It's part of the slow death of Sky+, yes: that's a platform from 2001 (and Sky+ HD is from 2006)

Not particularly cynical, I'd suggest, just a sensible business process (particularly after the acquisition of Sky by Comcast) to not have four different subscription television hardware product lines in support.
