@Christopher+Owen

You could try pointing a dish at the Astra cluster (28.2E) and see what happens if you use a Freesat receiver (or a Sky+ HD box without a subscription: Sky cannot offer subscription services in France).  While Freesat is not authorised by state regulators for distribution in France (or Spain, or Holland, or Belgium, or the Republic of Ireland), satellite signal isn't known for its ability to recognise and then stop at national terrestrial borders (unlike Sky Go which can be geo-fenced to only function from UK IP addresses).  Note that it's typically entirely legal to receive such a signal (if you can get a dish to do so) as long as you comply with any local regulation on the ownership and licencing of receiving / viewing hardware: I believe France has just abolished its Redevance Télé (TV Licence) which was definitely not an election bribe by Monsieur Macron ; )
