Recording BBC in ROI
Hi,
I'm based in the Republic of Irekand. I'm thinking of switching to Sky as current provider no longer supports recording of BBC / RTE. Can someone please let me know if I can do this with Sky? Any particular package needed?
Thanks 😊

No, you won't be able to record/playlist any BBC Channelks as you wont; have them on the TV Guide, you will only get the Irish channels RTE, TG4, Virgin Media etc.
As far as I'm aware, you wont even get BBC Ipalyer. I'm sure a fellow stream user from the ROI can confirm.

Thanks GD1,
That's what I'm afraid of! My folks can record BBC but they got their TV box a year ago and I think this a recent change for new accounts. I'll wait for an ROI user to reply.

Re: Recording BBC in ROI
That's wrong info you posted
The following BBC Channels are on Sky EPG in Republic of Ireland on both Sky Q and Sky Glass/Sky Stream
BBC 1 Northern Ireland
BBC 2 Northern Ireland
BBC 3
BBC 4
CBBC
CBeebies
BBC on demand is also available in TV section scroll to BBC tile (Sky Glass/Sky Stream) but it's very limited the amount on demand content that's made available by BBC to Sky Ireland and when that content gets removed can vary
Whats listed in the on demand section some will be available for only 7 days or 30 days and some exceptions for longer like Eastenders and some other BBC content
A lot of the time though you will need to watch live broadcast instead as a lot won't be made available as on demand
Example Match of the day Satuarday night and Sunday night broadcasts is available for 7 days the on demand version gets replaced by next broadcast
Both will show as available on the Monday as on demand and will list as recorded if added to playlist
Some very limited BBC broadcasts when you add to playlist gets recorded at various times to Sky Ireland Cloud server but most times you will need to watch the live broadcast instead or see what's available in the on demand section a few days or weeks later
In regards to RTÉ
When you add RTÉ live broadcasts to playlist you access that content later from RTÉ Player on Sky Glass it can take a few days sometimes to show up available for playback
The difference is RTÉ Player on Sky Glass/Sky Stream is run from Sky Server it looks the exact same as the standalone RTÉ player app you get on mobile phones and other streaming devices Apple TV Box/Google streamer/Firestick other smart Tv's etc but when content shows as available can differ by a few days on the version Sky use on their server and some on demand episodes might not show at all but does show up on the RTÉ player app you get on other devices
Sky Glass 65 inch and 2 Sky Stream Pucks
Gigabit Siro 100% Fiber Broadband with Digiweb
1000 Mbps download and 200 Mbps upload speed
I only use wired ethernet with Sky Glass and Sky Stream Pucks
