Internet connection
My Sky Glass keeps dropping the Internet connection. This has happened intermittently over the last three or four weeks but in the last few days it has happened three or four times a day. I have to either switch off and on again or reset the connection. It has now got to the stage where it is extremely annoying. Is this a known issue ?

Re: Internet connection
If it was a wide spread issue there community would be flooded with posts. When it's disconnected is this when coming out of standby or when in the middle of use? One setting to try is enable networked standby mode in settings > startup and standby.
Who is your ISP? Is this Sky also?

Re: Internet connection
@Nickatherton Mine did the same this morning and after a lot of messing about I realised nothing was working on WiFi in my home. Rebooting the router didn't help and I had to go out. When I got home an hour later everything was working again so presumably my ISP has a short outage.
As a general rule make sure that "Networked standby mode" to ON as this prevents your Glass or puck from losing the network when it goes into standby. You will find this setting under Settings > Start up & standby. I would also turn off "Overnight power savings" whilst in that menu.

Re: Internet connection
Now in July 2025, and the same issue. Sky broadband is fine (although recently it has been erratuc), but Glass will freeze, stating please wait for programme to load. It doesn't and I have to turn Sky Glass off at the plug to get things back. Even dojngbthis sometimes it then says no jnternet connection.

Re: Internet connection
@TimmyKey Do you connect via WiFi or Ethernet? Ethernet is more reliable and if you are using Ethernet make sure WiFi is turned off in the Settings.
WiFi signals are prone to interference. I tried WiFi the first week I had Glass but lost signal so many times I couldn't switch to Ethernet fast enough!

Re: Internet connection
I have tried both and still no difference!
plus what's the point in having a WiFi tv what was advertised as no wire connect if you need to use a wire!
I have the fastest fibre cable internet and still have issues.
sky need to stop fobbing people off and except this is a sky glass issue not a WiFi issue!
alternatively they are just going to lose customers!!

Re: Internet connection
@Teddypom Wish I could help more. I'm basing my advice on my own experience with WiFi Vs Ethernet. The first week I had Glass back in 2021 was a nightmare using WiFi. I switched to Ethernet and have had no connection issues since with my old Gen One or with the Gen Two.
I'm a firm believer that Ethernet is the best way to view Glass. As you say you've tried both without success is it possible you may have a faulty Ethernet cable?
My only issues with both have been firmware issues.
Are there lots of devices in your household trying to use the same connection at once? Demand can affect the speed and if you're not getting 25-30 Mbps for your Glass connection as a result it's a problem.
Of course, it could be a TV hardware issue but if it was I would expect far more traffic complaining about it on here.

Re: Internet connection
Hi, thanks for the note back.
As yet have not tried ethernet, however as the Skly Glass has been working for the past 2 years, and has only recently started with the drop outs I do not think it is interference, not at least within our home.
Sky broadband is now working fine, so it is unlikley to be the router or interference.
Maybe Sky Glass is getting too old and has built in planned obsolescence, forcing us to the newer model?

Re: Internet connection
@TimmyKey I had my Gen One for three years and three months and after using ethernet instead of WiFi didn't have any connection issues. It's surely worth trying ethernet to see if it helps?

Re: Internet connection
@TimmyKey If it doesn't work, then I apologise in advance. It does seem to work for the majority of Stream and Glass customers that have had connection issues. If the worst comes to the worst, you've only spent a few pounds on a cable not hundreds of pounds on a new TV, be that Glass or another model!
