Re: You've received your Sky Glass Gen 2, what are your thoughts on how it performs?

Extremely disappointed with Glass Gen 2. So much so that we've sent it back after less than a week. Can't believe they charged us a £25 returns fee too!!

We'd had a gen 1 Glass for the past couple of years. Didn't have many problems with it, but to be honest it wasn't used that much and ended up relegated to a bedroom. We decided to treat ourselves to the gen2 as we wanted to keep wires to a minumum and liked the overall look of Glass. Sadly we believed the hype about all the improvements over the gen1 model and they're really not that great.

The new stand is very poor. Doesn't feel safe at all. Wobbles back and forward too much.

Picture quality has gone from meh to OK. It's good enough, but on a TV costing nearly a grand it really should be better.

Sound is fine. A bit more depth to the bass but again, really nothing to write home about. I had it hooked up to my amp to get proper Atmos with my surround speakers but eARC stopped working on day 2 and has come and gone ever since. Really poor. And I was getting dropouts on Atmos. Directed to keep doing restarts by Sky on the phone. Not ideal.

The interface is the same as it was on the gen1 - worked fine but didn't seem any faster in terms of navigation or opening apps.

Generally just a huge disappointment really. The two or three people I spoke to at Sky on the phone were pretty indifferent about it and didn't really seem to care or offer much in the way of assistance. It was this attitude that actually made me decide to just get rid of it and Sky altogether.

We've just taken delivery of a lovely new Panasonic OLED TV with FireTV OS and Freely built in. Cost less than a hundred pounds more but what a difference. Came with a free six year guarantee too! We can use the Now TV app for Sky programmes on it as well as getting all the other apps we want and it's a 120Hz panel for hooking up the kids console. So much better. Even without the built-in soundbar it sounds remarkably good compared to Glass. I'll stick with my amp though.

Sorry Sky, Glass gen2 wasn't for us. Hope everyone else gets on better with it than we did.

You can't beat an Oled tv for picture quality at the moment.

Keep lagging in the sound it's freezing daily you pause it make a cuppa it starts on it own when you turn off and back on sometimes if your lucky you can pick up were you left off the rest of it is fantastic sound pictures voice control still quite repetitive but lots of channels and no dish cool as I live in a flat but I always say give me my sky Q back lol

Once you have bought and ordered and received the gen 2 you can compare it against gen 1

Re: You've received your Sky Glass Gen 2, what are your thoughts on how it performs?

Another point has just occurred to me. With my previous TV's with Stream I had to spend ages on the settings to get a UHD picture I thought was correct. I am watching City v Liverpool now and I have realised I haven't had to touch the Gen 2 settings as the picture is spot on.

Again, just my opinion from what I can see and not claiming to be an expert.

Received the 65" in Artic Silver, being collected tomorrow under the cooling off period. Could not really tell the difference from the first one. No trade in, no special offers.

Wasted £70 on delivery and collection, ah well least I get my £260 deposit back.
