Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

I'm looking to purchase a sky glass gen 2, but some review are stating that gaming is awful with it, there is a lag. Is this true?

Hi @RobT2025

It is not a TV designed for gaming, it's designed for general entertainment. While it doe have a LLM etc you will always be limited by the 60Hz panel. If you are after a TV for you enhanced gaming you will want to be looking at 120Hz.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

I've just ordered a Sky glass gen 2 and come across this issue on the forums but can't find the post. Mines not been delivered yet and a bit worried about the lag/5 second stutter/allm issue. Has this been fixed yet? I currently game on a 60hz TV and it's fine for me, but the issue with the glass gen 2 not switching to 60hz etc properly has got me worried. Should I cancel the order? Someone said a workaround was to load your game then turn off TV and turn it back, that's not what I want with a new TV at that price. So has the issue been resolved?

If you're a serious gamer then Glass gen2 really isn't worth it. You can get a 120Hz OLED panel with ALLM and VRR for less money that will give you much lower latency. Add a Stream puck to it for the exact same Sky streaming TV experience.

Glass is fine if you want it for watching telly with half decent sound. For serious gaming you need a serious TV.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

I'm only a casual gamer, 120hz doesn't interest me at the moment, and there's not many games that will do 120 frames that I'm interested in, my son has a 144hz monitor for his ps5, I was more concerned about the issue of it switching to 60hz correctly as I read there's been an issue with it and the switch of TV as a workaround. I was wondering if they fixed that issue, I'm playing assassin's creed shadows on a 4k 60 hz TV at the minute.  Do you know if the Allm / game mode issue is still there?

Sorry, I can't say for sure. I've since sold my gen1 Glass and returned the gen2 after a few days. It simply wasn't good enough for me.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

I used a PS5 with gen 1 set for years and had no issues - but I am not a pro online gamer or anything and it just worked for me.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

  • Can anyone clarify as I'm getting conflicting information when researching, some statements say there is not charge for returning sky glass if it's in your cooling off period, others state theres a £25 charge. Thanks, looking forward to it arriving on Monday but would just like to know where I stand.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

@Domodemon As I understand it, there is a £25 collection fee payable if you wish to return the TV in its cooling off period. Also, take pictures and video evidence of the TV working and its condition if you do return it in case of damage disputes.

Re: Xbox series x and ps5 on sky glass

Thanks, yeah I always take photos and keep receipts, had an issue with 3 5g hub once saying I didn't return it and tried to charge me, until I showed proof of postage and signed for delivery. I suppose £25 is better than paying for it for 4 years. Just hope I'm happy with it then I won't have to.
