I'd wager that was before Sky was sold to Comcast.

Comcast acquired Sky Group in late 2018 (almost exactly three years before Glass was released)

Presumably the swap thing hit significant obstacles, and probably shouldn't have been announced at the launch event.

I imagine terms and conditions 'don't' apply..

Can't be seeing how Sky Glass was developed and released post Comcast takeover.

Re: Will there be a Sky Glass 2?

Comcast is a different beast since it's takeover.

They've tightened their purse strings.

My point is I don't think they'll give us anything.

But, I'm happy to wait and see.

A "swap system" for a TV that was bought and ownership transferred was never going to work, the logistics, waste and effort involved make it unrealistic for any commercial business and was nothing more than sales spiel at the time.

The only way it might have worked is if the TV was only ever rented and Sky retained ownership, but that in itself would also be a nightmare to administer.

You are also selling/renting out something that pretty much has no residual value after 5 years.

Re: Will there be a Sky Glass 2?

Little birdie told me that the new Sky glass is made by Hisense, micro led panel and the built in sound bar has gone ! 43, 55 and 65 inch - same as Sky glass.  Colour variations have gone too. Only available in black. Price point exactly the same as current sky glass.

@Jason+Golding  I highly doubt Sky will reduce the colour scheme down to 1 colour or remove the soundbar as that is one of the selling points of Glass

Time will tell but I suspect your source is incorrect.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Will there be a Sky Glass 2?

IF the replacement for Sky Glass is made by Hisense and the sound bar has been omitted it might not be a bad thing..

I just got a 55" Hisense with a built in subwoofer and the sound is far superior to the 43" Sky Glass I've relegated to my son's room.

(Who's happy as a pig in muck!)

Re: Will there be a Sky Glass 2?

I believe it was Hisense who made the XClass tv for Comcast (Sky owner) in the USA, this wouldn't surprise me.

if Sky have effectively decided to choose a standard model of tv and basically just put the Entertainment OS inside the tv. Far more cost effective than designing your own tv.

for me the sound bar was very ineffective, my LG OLED has much better sound than Sky glass as do the Sony tvs that cleverly use the screen as a speaker.

as for the coloured versions of tv, I would be interested to see actually how attractive this was to customers, for me it's a bit dated and if that popular other manufacturers would be doing this
