Upgrade sky glass

Good afternoon everyone.

Moving house very soon. Looking to upgrade our Sky Glass to a larger size. Any idea if this is possible, and if so how do we go about it??

Think of it as a standard TV. You would need to buy a replacement TV and either dispose of the current TV privately or keep it.

If you purchased your current TV on credit, you'll have to continue to pay until the load is fully repaid, regardless of what you decide to do with it. You'll be able to make a lump sum payment to clear it, if you wish.

If you want to purchase a new Glass on credit too it will be a new loan and you'll have two loans to service if you don't first settle the loan for your current TV.

@WelshPing

Glass sets are purchased outright from the start, either with cash or through a regulated unsecured personal loan.  If the latter, part of the monthly payment reduces the outstanding loan balance over either two or four years: it's not any form of rental or HP so an in-contract 'upgrade' doesn't apply, and the television is always the property of the user.

A Swap scheme similar to that which Sky Mobile offers for phones was mentioned during the Glass launch event back in October 2021, but it has never actually emerged.

I would doubt any kind of upgrade or swap scheme would exist when only 1 iteration of glass is available....

of course there is always a potential for this to be revisited if a version 2 is released but there is virtually no indication of a new model at this present moment in time ......

And although it was mentioned prominently in the launch presentation, I've never found any references to it in the Glass contract, which you'd think would be a requirement.

Be interesting to know what a tv "swap" would look like ......  totally different animal to a mobile phone and virtually no market for used models. I would think there would be a high demand for a swap (in the event that it happens) which would leave sky with the equivalent of a cheese mountain of used tvs.

Re: Upgrade sky glass

Aren't Sky trying to empty from the original production run ... was there ever more than one production run?

Logistics would suggest that there would be multiple production runs as it was released in September 2021 ..... based entirely on my opinion!

I think I said at the time it was rather an odd strategy to even consider pursuing: for one thing, a Glass television would need a really big padded envelope to post back to Sky...

Edit: 32:37 in the launch video
