I personally think it's down to the changes in how people watch. The days of linear TV are numbered. With YouTube overtaking ITV to become the second most watched service in the UK, it tells you a lot.
There's less need for an all-in-one TV service as the younger generations get older. They consume what they want, when they want. They're already used to not needing recording, it's streaming on demand all the way, so there's no real need to pay for a full TV service from Sky, Virgin, EE or whoever.
Sky+ and Sky Q were revolutionary in their day and remain the preferred and reliable means of getting a full TV service for many people over the age of 40. Sky Stream and Glass are an attempt to recreate that full experience in a streamed form, but many younger people simply don't need the live channel streams because they don't want to be told that they have to sit down at 8pm to watch the show they love. They'll just watch it on demand whenever they like.
Sky remains a comforting umbrella for many long term customers. Whether it'll remain in the same form, providing a full TV service in years to come, remains to be seen.
For now though, if you like watching live TV and love sport then Sky Stream is definitely worth considering.

Re: Sky glass yes or no
@BenJoBanjo Plus I know a lot of older people will struggle to get used to it with streaming being the only option eventually

They're not. This still confuses a lot of people.
Sky Glass is a TV which runs the same SkyOS which runs on a Stream puck.
A Stream puck is a streaming device which needs to be attached to a TV in order to view and run the SkyOS.
There are still many people who think Sky Glass is the streaming service. It's not.

I'd say the opposite. The Stream puck on its own would have been a much better idea for the customer. Everyone is/was used to getting a 'Sky box' to attach to their TV. That's what the puck is. Sky Glass is a means of making Sky more money. The profit margin on a TV sold to a customer rather than loaned, is a lot greater. It's all about economics.

Re: Sky glass yes or no
@BenJoBanjo A lot of folk said the puck is very glitchy and sometimes doesn't work that's why I went for the glass tv when my own tv died last year but I was originally going to keep sky Q until it gets switched off in 2029 2030 but my tv died so I had to switch early

Re: Sky glass yes or no
It's all downto your broadband. If it's strong and stable the Glass TV and or puck will perform exactly the same as the OS is the same on both.

Re: Sky glass yes or no
- @Hunter2660 Yes all tv will be streaming only in the near future in the next couple of years so all companies will have to do affordable internet packages especially the older people who will stick with freely which is freeview otherwise the older people will get left behind and have no tv
