Is there any update on the sky glass update fix for the sound?

That depends on which issue you are experiencing.

Buzzing on low notes is a physical defect and cannot be resolved by a software update.

The sound being muffled, sky said they are working on an update

Again, 'muffled' sounds like a physical driver issue: it's not exactly unknown for support people across the tech industry to divert callers with an 'it's a known issue - wait for a software update' message rather than processing a product return.

Personally I'd suggest insisting on a hardware swap-out.
