Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

Why has my sky glass suddenly started  making a high pitched humming noise from 3 in the morning, tv is off but seems to start every morning between 3-4 , wakes me up , tv is connected directly into power socket , not into an extension , it's on wifi , has high quality hdmi's , really starting to annoy me after a week of doing it

You mean in standby rather than off at the plug? It sounds like your Glass may have developed a fault. If it's still in warranty you could give Sky a call.

Mine has started to do the same over past 3 days. Really annoying as it is waking us up in mornings.

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

Just spent 45 minutes on the phone to technical to be told my glass is out of warranty.

Done some resets and factory reset on my glass to find out the buzzing is still there.

It's only just over two and half years old time to leave sky me thinks.

Any TV can develop faults ... that's why some retailers offer 5 or 6 year warranties😟

Sky offer Sky Protect - Devices insurance🤔

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

Luckily mine was still had 7 months warranty but not great for under 2 years old with the cost of them as it seems there could be a few with the same issue

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

Mine has started doing the same in the last week or so: makes a humming sound, which disappears when it's turned on. It does not come back until some time after the set has been turned off.

It can't be coincidence that there are multiple people suffering the problem at the same time, maybe the result of a software update?

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

It's definitely something like software ,the replacement is doing the exact same thing , the tv has to be off a certain amount of time before it starts for me it kicks in at 3.00 am usually which is really annoying

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

If a brand new set is doing it, that rules out a hadware issue. Hopefully they issue an update.

I notice there's a bunch of options in the startup and power section. Overnight power saving is turned on by default. I have disabled this as it seems to me there must be something changing while the set is off as mine doesnt do it straight away and you say yours does it at 3 AM.

If that doesn't work I'm going to enable the motion detection settings, though I bet that's more annoying than the buzzing!

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

I'm so glad I have found these comments, I thought I was going mad. Ours started doing it just before Christmas similar times to yours. I haven't bothered phoning sky yet as I'm pretty sure our Tv is out of warranty. Has anyone found the cause?

Hi Emma,

I'm leaving sky they are not interested in old customers.

One thing we generally promote on here for both Sky Stream/Sky Glass is to have these settings under Start up and standby;

Generally, we have found it solves quite a number of niggling customer issues.

Network standby = On

Overnight power saving = Off

If using an ethernet connection to turn wifi to Off in Network settings.

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

That's absolute nonsense I've been on the phone to technical doing everything they asked me.

The set is still the same.

I'm going to consumer rights/trading standards this is unacceptable...

Re: Sky glass high pitched buzzng at set time

So now on the second replacement and still doing the same with the added bonus of the screen randomly lighting up for a second  black and going off . Spoke to sky again and I explained multiple people are having issues but some are out of warranty , she advised people still ring as they can help. Although I'm now being passed to a specialist team ? She also advised that each replacement starts a new 2 year warranty period if that helps anyone
