Sky glass frozen

My sky glass has been frozen for over a week now, reset multiple times. On the phone with sky and they ran me through all the procedures to reset/ try get it to work with no help. I am then told my only option is to BUY a new sky glass TV whilst still paying off my current sky glass TV. Bare in mine this is only a little over two years old... no damage what so ever. Since the phone call my TV has randomly come on twice being able to watch and then goes back to not working.  There is no chance I'm buying a new TV, seems absolutely ridiculous that this is the outcome over sky's "technology" failing to no fault of my own.

@Jmw92

Sky should possibly have directed you towards Service Tech, their approved Sky Glass repair partner:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-tv-repairs

Any repair they make would be chargeable though.
Sadly it seems there have been quite a few reports of Glass failures just outside the 2 year warranty period which seems to point to them having a limited lifespan. This is made all the more painful when purchased on a 4 year finance term.
This is largely the reason why I recommend anyone spending hundreds of pounds on a TV, one of the most used pieces of technology in the average British household, does so with an extended warranty. All TVs purchased from John Lewis or Richer Sounds for example, come with free 5 or 6 year warranties.

Re: Sky glass frozen

The only protection against Sky Glass TV failures is Sky Protect insurance ... expensive compared to the extended warranties from John Lewis or Richer Sounds ... only slight compensation is it covers other devices in the household😔

Re: Sky glass frozen

The TV is working again after resetting the TV and the controller together. This has worked 3 times now but no doubt the tv will go down again 🤷🏼‍♂️
