@Anonymous wrote:Lol. Now is a subsidiary of Sky. I was aware of that, but thanks for highlighting. I would also highlight that Now Tv have there own community boards. Some on here seem obsessed with Apple TV
Seeing as It's 6 months free with Sky VIP your point is what exactly.

My reference was to the Apple TV box, not the tv service.

how you doing? Your original thread is a valid one and good information for anyone browsing this forum looking for information before they make a decision on stream / glass.
Hopefully one of the guys can clean it up a bit .......

Thanks, not here to fight, there is enough misery without arguments on a forum. Yes I have my opinions but in this case it's a publication piece I just thought may be of interest 🤔
I thought it quite interesting that Sky had made a shift and what it may mean for individuals as pointed out earlier it could mean that customers who are in a hopeless situation with their stream may have an opportunity to discuss options with Sky. Those that it does not affect just well...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Anonymous ISP Review also covered this change and have since updated their piece following further information from Sky:
Sky has confirmed that the information is correct, it has increased the recommended minimum speed to 25Mbps for both Sky Stream and Sky Glass, apparently so customers can have the best possible experience.
Customers can also continue to get Sky Glass and Sky Stream with 10Mbps speeds per device, there’s no change for existing customers.
I read that as, they recommend your overall broadband speed should be a minimum of 25 Mbps or at least 10 Mbps per Stream/Glass device.
Still not sure I understand to be honest, seeing their UHD live stream will use most (if not all at times) the 25 Mbps on it's own, there just isn't enough headroom in most homes for any other network activity.

I don't think anyone understands: looks to me like a horrible mess and deeply confusing messaging resulting from a battle between the Support and the Marketing departments.

@TimmyBGood I doubt very much there are any battles between sky marketing and technical support teams. It's more a question of adjusting recommendations after a period of learning from customers. Until a service is used in anger it can be difficult to set minimum recommendations for Broadband speed

Oh I don't know. There was frequently contention between marketing and support in the organisation I used to work for too.

Having been MD of a large TV manufacturer in Wales I can assure you the battles between multiple departments, Design, Tech, Manufacturing, Quality, Shipping, Sales etc. are a constant to meet the demands of customers. Never ending!

The first morning of the first support job I ever had (for a UK-based manufacturer of 56Kbs modems, 16Mb VGA graphics cards and internal analogue television tuners, so a few whiles ago) I was told the Marketing Department had recently decreed "who sold you that piece of 💩 ?" was 'inappropriate language to use in customer communication'...
