Sky TV remote not working. I have tried pressing 7&9 and the led does not light up

Sky glass remote is not working, it started on Saturday when the volume button was pressed this brought a menu across the bottom. Now the remote does nothing at all, and when I try pressing 7&9 button the led light does not flash. I have replaced the batteries and nothing has changed so the TV is stuck on mute on one channel

Please help

Hi @Dave157

As you have tried re-pairing the remote but it's dead it sounds like you have a faulty remote. You can try twisting the remote gently like you were wringing out a dish cloth and this may help.

You can order a replacement remote here: https://www.sky.com/help/forms/streaming-tv-remote if you are covered by warranty or from Amazon.

You can use voice commands to change channel, mute and unmute the volume. Try hello Sky unmute or hello Sky set volume to x volume.

Re: Sky TV remote not working. I have tried pressing 7&9 and the led does not light up

I have just experienced the same issue where I can change the volume using the remote but the mute and unmute button is not working. I can see when I select the mute button the visual of the sound progress bar does reflect it has been selected but the sound does not change.

I have tried the following resetting the remote with the earlier advice provided and even turned of the sky glass tv but these did not work.

As a last resort I thought I would try something myself. I selected the 3 dots to the left of the play/pause button which you use to reach the following shortcuts or options:

search

subtitles

audio track

audio output

viewing mode

night mode

enhance speech quality

microphone

I found that toggling the enhance speech quality off (as it was on) and then toggling back on weirdly corrected the issue. Give it a go.

I’m uncertain whether it was a timing issue, powering off the TV earlier, or whether toggling the enhance speech quality actually worked.

Good luck.
