Sky Glass isn't glass, it's LCD
Absolutely discusting company and service. Activated my sky glass dec 23 it switched off march 24 after many calls and different excuses they decided Nov 24 there was another tv with same series no in Ireland and finally decided to change it, thought nothing of it when the delivery guys unboxed and placed on unit for me v.end December 24 ( all xmas without tv) and 2 weeks later after initially noticing a different picture , on cleaning realised it doesn't have a glass but led screen. When ringing i was told glass has never been glass. [content removed] Both me & my daughter had glass! Yes I could stop payments but would still be contracted. Discusting especially to disabled and vunrable customers steer clear

Re: Sky Glass isn't glass, it's LCD
Not sure what you are getting at here? The specs are freely available for Gen 1 and Gen 2. See: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-TV/Sky-Glass-Gen-2-is-here/ba-p/4897808
As you can see the screen type is: UHD Quantum Dot, VA LCD. Sky Glass is the brand name of the product... Did you not do your research before ordering?

Re: Sky Glass isn't glass, it's LCD
LCD is liquid crystal display: as @mikealanr indicates, Sky Glass uses a vertical alignment liquid crystal panel
LED is Light Emitting Diode, and is the illumination technology placed behind the LCD panel.
Your reference to 'cleaning' suggests perhaps you've inadvertently created marks on the plastic coating overlying the glass surface of the LCD component: it's inadvisable to use any liquid cleaning products or anything other than a very soft microfiber lens cloth.

I agree a damp (not wet ) microfibre cloth to clean of any finger marks etc will suffices while using a dry microfibre cloth to finish, applying lightly in both cases will clean the screen.

@MrFumming the replacement unit would be using the same technology as your orginal set but I note you said you cleaned the screeen. The glass covering TV screens are treated with a coating to improve the picture and should only be cleaned using a special cleaner or that coating it can be damaged .
Sky Glass does use a lcd panel but has a special led back lightvsystem thst allows local dimming and a another coating of something called Quantum dots on the panel which enhances the colour displav. This system has various names like QLED, mini led and FALD depending on who made tge TV.. The coating on the external glass is different from the Quantum dots but helps with reducing glare from light in the room and the angle the picture can be viewed at if damaged it looks horrible.

@MrFumming I'm not aware of ANY Modern TV having a Glass screen (except the very old cathode ray tube sets), I'm not sure why you even thought it would be?
