Sky Glass automatic default to recording Sky Store.

Anyone know how to stop Sky Glass defaulting to Sky Store when wanting to record a film on another channel? It's now doing it when wanting to record a film on BBC 2 gtodasy.

Glass doesn't record the film. If the film was on BBC2 then you need to try and watch it via the iPlayer app.

When you add the film to your playlist is will tend to default to Sky Store or Sky Cinemaz

If you open the film on then playlist and scroll down to the Available Now rail it should then display a "Play on X" button for each app/service that the film is available to watch on.

Its worth nothing that if a film is broadcast on a BBc or ITV channel for instance doesn't mean the film will necessarily be available to watch on their catch-up apps.

Thank you although I understand what you are saying, the Sky Glass refuses to play anything other than Sky Store, the latest attempt using Film 4 which previously I never had a problem with.

Thanks for trying though, much obliged.

Any examples of current films you are wanting to watch might help explore the issue further.

What were the two on BBC2 and Film4, that might be a good start?

Re: Sky Glass automatic default to recording Sky Store.

Hi Lettice,

Last Sunday the film i wanted to record was Where Eagles Dare on BBC 2. I tried several times in different ways to add to Playlist, but each time it defaulted to Sky Store. So Deleted and asbandoned it.  Went bask to the screen a few hours later having switched it off and it had recorded it on BBC 2 as originally intended. Odd!

The previous one was Guns of Navarone which i think was on More 4 and subsequently Film 4.  Even setting to record from the actual channel it would only default to Sky Sore although appearing to show it would record on the selected channel, it would not.

@Hurc Could it be because BBC and 4 have their own apps for catch up? As @MarkGoldsmith said, there's no guarantee that films or everything they show during a day will appear on it. Because Glass/Stream doesn't offer recording a la Q, you are dependent on the programme/film being offered to watch on the channels catch up service, if that makes sense?

Re: Sky Glass automatic default to recording Sky Store.

Thanks for that and in some cases you are quite correct, howver it wasn't just thse 2 particular films it is an ongoing issue along with certain channels that have a film split into 2 parts and the screen says it will record but in fact on records the first part.  Sky say it's a known problem which they said had been fixed but it hasn't changed since 2022 when I got Sky Glass.

Just do what i  do if the film or program  is on bbc, itv, channel 4 or channel 5

Then I  go on the  iplayer,  or itvx, and add to my list on there same with  the other channel
