Sky Glass and Sky Stream remote infrared mode only

Do the Sky Glass and Sky Stream remotes work in infrared only mode (non-bluetooth) in terms of full button functionality (excluding voice function)?

Also would Sky Stream Netflix and YouTube buttons work over infrared only on a Sky Glass television?

Hi @John952 and welcome to the forum. Yes, the sky Glass and Stream remotes can be paired so they only work in IR mode and not bluetooth.

  1. Press 7 and 9 together on your Sky remote for three seconds (This resets/clears the remote)
  2. Press 4 and 6 together for three seconds (This pairs the remote in IR mode).
  3. Or press 1 and 3 together for three seconds (if you want it paired in bluetooth mode)

Follow any on screen instructions.

Re: Sky Glass and Sky Stream remote infrared mode only

Thanks for your reply and confirming!

So just to clarify, all of the button functions will operate just fine over IR, including the navigation buttons and keypad etc etc. Reason I ask is I had previously understood that only basic functions such as power and volume would work over IR mode only.

Also regarding the Netflix and YouTube buttons on the Sky Stream remote,  would these buttons work over IR on the Sky Glass television?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @John952 I have 2 stream remotes programmed for my stream puck as well as an old Sky Q remote.  It is only possible to have 1 remote paired in bluetooth mode so the other 2 are paired in the IR mode.

The Sky Q remote and one stream remote are both paired in IR and are fully functional (except for voice control) however neither of them have the Netflix or YouTube buttons so I cannot comment on that feature.  My assumption would be that if everything else works OK then I see no reason why the app buttons wouldn't work as well (but no guarantees).

The Stream/Glass remotes with the Netflix and YouTube buttons are alternative remotes supplied by Sky so you can continue to use your Glass TV if you cancel the subscription.  You will usually receive one about 8 weeks after cancelling your Glass subscription but when I cancelled mine I never received the remote (it didn't bother me so I never chased it up).

I hope that helps 👍
