Sky Glass Upgrades???????

When I initially received my Sky Glass (Over a year ago) I was initially disappointed by it's poor performance. Unfortunately I missed the 31 return period so I was stuck with it. After a few months of playing with settings I got it to a state where it only needed a reset several times a week. After nearly a year of owning it, where are the software upgrades to make it more 'Useable'?

Over the Xmas period it has been terrible again needing several restarts a day, no Internet disconnections, buffering issues, stuttering on all channels and apps.

Come of Sky, sort this [removed] out. I have told anyone that has asked me about my Glass, DO NOT BUY.

Glass has had multiple firmware releases since November 2021: the most recent was (unusually) in December.

The current version is this one:

Sky device: Build version number: Entertainment OS version:
Sky Glass TV QS013.503.00P 1.0

Whether any of the updates address the issue(s) you are encountering is rather different.  For problems 'over the Xmas period' I'd suggest looking at any possible interference from lights and other decorations, particularly if symptoms are reduced once these have come down.

I have to say that having been very critical of it a year ago our Glass set has not required any forced reboots for months, and the November/December update was a genuine improvement in picture quality.

Is there any chance you can try yours on an ethernet connection?

Re: Sky Glass Upgrades???????

Like I say, I have had it over a year and there is pretty much nothing I haven't tried. I have crawled through these forum posts and I did have the Glass in a pretty stable state till the last few weeks.

Standing on one leg with left index finger in right ear didn't help so I dismissed that one.

Ethernet to a switch cabled back to the BT router, with Glass WiFi switched off, works for us.  It's now at the point where it's actually 'better' than Q was for reliability because at this time of year the satellite signal was regularly affected by the weather.

I have had it connected via ethernet since I got it with the WiFi disabled.

Worth checking the Wifi is still off: some updates have been known to re-enable it.  Assuming there's enough bandwidth arriving at the router and the wired network connection is sound then apart from external broadband complications from using a rarer ISP I can't think where the issue would be: perhaps the Glass set itself, but network chipsets tend to be robust these days.

Re: Sky Glass Upgrades???????

It wouldn't surprise me if it isn't a software issue that has perhaps become corrupt.

So many people report individual problems that other users don't report it must be software to have so many non ethernet WiFi problems.

Problem is its a locked door from Sky, say nothing don't let on so customers are kept in the dark.

I am really surprised there has been no major posts on the media of actually how hit n miss Sky Glass/Stream is, reviewers just love it - very strange.

Re: Sky Glass Upgrades???????

@Anonymous apparently there was a really good program on the issues with Sky Glass but noone could watch it due to the issues on Sky Glass. 🤣

Possibly because it is only a tiny percentage that have problems.

Yeah I agree with @TimmyBGood  since about October the twice weekly restarts that I had to do have stopped and it's a much better system
