We regularly come to use the TV, try to turn it on with the remote with no response, and end up having to turn it off at the wall for a couple of minutes. I would say this happens at least once a day.

Try turning on turning on the Networked Standby Mode in Setting > Start up & Standby menu and disabling the Overnight Power Saving option.
