Sky Glass TV value

My father is about to move to a care home. He currently has a sky glass TV (65" black) and he's about half way through a 4 year credit agreement to pay it off (around £550) still to pay. The care home room is not big enough to accommodate the TV and besides, he can't use sky glass there as he won't have his own internet connection. I am thinking he should sell the big TV , move to the streaming service and take one of the pucjs he has for that with him and I will buy him a normal TV to use. Is that a good idea? What could he reasonably get for his 2 year old Sky Glass TV and is eBay a good place to sell?

Unfortunately the resale value of Sky Glass, particularly the gen1 version which your father will have, is quite poor.

Realistically you would be lucky to get £200 for it on eBay. There are already over a hundred similar Glass TVs on there at the moment and due to the excessive weight of the TV, the buyer would normally need to collect. You might have more luck on a local Facebook group where people are likely less savvy to the value of the TV and would be more local for collection.

You'll need to check that the care home he is moving to has sufficient broadband speed available to him in order for a Sky Stream puck to work. You'd also need to inform Sky that this is what you're planning to do because they log the IP address of where the puck is registered and if you use it elsewhere you may be subject to additional fee or termination of your contract.

Good luck.
