Sky Glass Gen 2 sound issues

I've  just changed from Sky Q to a new 43" Sky Glass Gen 2 this week. I've been really disappointed with the sound. The sound from the upper speaker bar is distorted and muffled. It's particualrly noticeable with speach. It doesn't seem to matter which source is used. I've tried all the different sound options and picture settings (wierdly Sky recommend using vivid picture following their online help). Enhancing speach quality doesn't help. I've reset the TV a few times and the software is up to date. Speach sounds rubbish and overwhelmed by bass. Lip sync also goes off on live streaming tv for no particular reason intermittently.

When I put my ear to the top TV speakers, the sound is very distorted. Worryingly, I also get a small electric shock to my ear from the tv casing. I also had some static electricity from the side of the tv with my fingers the other day too like it's not properly earthed.

I am convinced there is a hardware issue with the top speakers so I will be requesting a return. I can see that there are some other threads where people have experienced the same problem.

Incidentally the TV was delivered in pristine condition and hasn't been dropped or exposed to water.

I've lost a bit of faith in the build quality of Sky Glass TV's based on this. I'm tempted to go back to Sky Q and my trusty 4K LG TV.

Anyone else had struggles with speaker/sound quality with their Sky Glass 2s in recent months?

Hi @RichEv

would suggest you get in contact with sky for troubleshooting and potential warranty replacement.

unfortunately as with all electronic devices you do occasionally get defective units

Re: Sky Glass Gen 2 sound issues

@RichEv You could try connecting via an ethernet cable if you haven't already tried that. As far as speakers are concerned, they are designed to be listened to from a normal distance, so probably will sound odd if listened to at very short range! Good luck.
