A device like a fire stick is useful to be able to access Apps which aren't available on Sky Glass.
So a streaming TV without all the apps? Which ones are missing? Or is this an oblique reference to jailbroken Firesticks...
I have Pluto tv, freevee, Amazon photos, tune in radio ....... and I use now tv app for sky cinema (had a deal for 6 months)
also a good backup in case there's issues with the glass service. And going back a year or so the quality on the prime app on the firestick was much better than on glass.
also I like the fireplace and Xmas apps.
Oh well. You learn something every day. Never heard of most of that. A bit niche, but whatever floats your boat...

That sounds worrying for anyone contemplating ditching their dish. How often have there been issues?

Way less issues than I had with sky q (when I also had a firestick)

The Sky OS is a closed operating system and doesn't have an app store, so you only get Apps available for which the app owners have a contractual deal in place with Sky, which is typically as a result the big broadcasters who are big enough to support a unqiueversuon of their app which can run on and integrate with Sky OS (eg your Paramount +, Netflix, BBCs etc).
