It looks like a good overall update. Not a revolution, but tweaking what was already there. Very much an iteration, but that's fine.

I'm more interested to see what happens with the newly renamed Sky OS and what upgrades might be in store there.

I agree, it's a really decent upgrade. I've made the argument many times on this forum that Sky Glass is not intended for those who want a better TV than this. The Sky Glass (Gen 2) specs hit that perfect sweet spot. I know there will be people who go "what a let down, my Samsung is OLED 4K+++ Ultra Super X,Y,Z..."... Sky Glass, then, is not the TV for you.

Completely agree with this - and is likely the reason Sky Stream exists as it allows for those that think "this TV isn't quite for me" to still be able to utilise the Sky streaming platform.

There is certainly a portion of the market where this TV will tick most of the boxes that a person is looking for in a TV.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Will be interested to see how the new set performs, both from an AV point of view and OS navigation speed. No danger of Mrs Coffeedrinker agreeing to an upgrade of our matches-the-decor dusky pink bedroom set.

Also looks as though the speaker grilles match the main chassis colour wise; if so, presumably the magnetic speaker covers have been dropped for gen2?

Looking at the various pictures and comments of those at the event on socials, that appears to be the case. A good choice I think.

Does anyone know if the Gen 2 is going to be compatible with the Gen 1 wall mounting?

So if I'm getting this right there's a successor to Sky Glass 2 coming with 7 speakers..

Then there's a somewhat budget friendlier Air version with 2 speakers??

Correct

Sky Glass Gen 2 has 7 speakers

Sky Glass Air the budget friendly set has 2 speakers.

Presumably for those who would want to use their own existing surround sound setup .....

Of course not everybody needs a Ferrari but why should those people then pay Ferrari money for a 2021 Dacia Duster?

Sky stream puck 2

I see they are bringing out Sky Glass 2. As the first one was a bit of a PR disaster and I suspect why they had to bring out Steam as many customers like me were not happy as many of us already have excellent TV's, if not better

Wonder if Sky will also be bringing out a more equipped Steam Puck

Have moved your post here.

The announcement today is all about Sky Glass, no need to start new ones on here.

There are no announcements around Sky Stream in todays announcement.

Expect, for Sky Glass and Sky Stream over the coming months and more, for Sky to have firmware, app and OS updates.
