Hi @Navigator2

When you order your glass you will need to purchase the wall mount too. AIT sky's delivery partner then offer you the ability to upgrade your delivery and one of those options is wall mounting.

Can't remember the cost, but it is in a thread somewhere so will have a look.

MikeAlanR

The wall mounting option is an extra £115.

Without wanting to come across as muggy, you weren't expecting it to be free were you?

Just for the record I'm no Sky Glass fan boy, quite the opposite, so I'm most definitely not here fighting their corner. The fact is no matter what telly you buy from whatever retailer adding wall mounting will incur an extra charge.

Hi Everyone

There were a few questions in the thread, around Sky Live not being available whilst purchasing Gen 2 and some technical difficulties we are facing.  The good news, is that you can place an order on the website, once your TV has been delivered.

Our support teams have advised the following:

With the launch of Sky Glass Gen 2 and the upcoming arrival of Sky Glass Air, we wanted to create a simpler and more streamlined online sales journey. Sky Live is a fantastic add-on for our Gen 1 and Gen 2 Glass TVs and customers who are interested can buy it online once their Sky Glass Gen 2 is delivered and activated.

If you'd like to purchase Sky Live, once you've had your TV delivered, you can place your order on this link.

Thanks

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Just wanted to give my 2c.

Always wanted to upgrade to a Sky Glass TV, knew 2nd gen was upcoming so held out. Finally got my Glass earlier this week.

Not even a fan of sky, my previous TV was very sub par (50ghz? No built in speakers, etc). I was using Chromecast and Mini's for speakers.

So you would think I expect a massive upgrade.

So obviously the sound and picture are definitely an upgrade, but...

Picture... expected more.

Sound... Is great

Convenience, utility, ease.... Cannot be beaten. That is why I purchased Sky Glass over anything else.

Paying over the odds? Maybe so, but the 0% finance definitely to be taken into consideration and not to be ignored.

I never understand the debate and hate, it's crazy how much negative attention Glass attracts.

Things I don't like I ignore and don't follow or even get involved with, so any casuals or average users considering, just have real expectations.

Sky Glass is 100% worthy of considering if you cannot afford to pay out a grand of a TV setup.

I would value the TV and Sound around £400-700 markup depending your TV size.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Oh man, I glanced at it 10 seconds and x'd out.

This thread was the only thing I followed since it was created - I apologise for not contributing effectively maybe?

Place is too toxic man.

I think Sky don't have problem marketing their TV. The people it's aimed at like myself, aren't bothered, don't want to, or cannot pay TV and Sound system outright for it's value.

Forums, discussions, YouTube... I just feel it's 9/10 hate towards Glass TV, even if they've never owned a glass TV, yet alone gen2.

I don't understand.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

@OMGADRAGON I fear I'm going to be taking the pantomime villain role here and no doubt coming across as a tech snob in the bargain too but here goes:

So with due respect I don't think even the most casual of average users should expect that much if a grand is all they're able/willing to shell out on a TV set-up.

You're looking at close to four figures for a half decent TV, double that if you want to go higher spec, and then that again for a decent 'one box' sound system to accompany it.

You'll definitely be able to pick up something like last year's or the year before's Samsung Q990 system for slightly under a grand.

I'd argue that offers absolutely exceptional value when you compare it to what our previous soundbar and our current one cost. That was a grand by itself, without then adding the two rears, the two stands they're sat on and the two subs that bass addict me opted to get too.

Of course I fully appreciate not everyone can afford and/or will want to lay out that sort of money on their AV set-up but their expectations then need to be kept in check accordingly.

So no I don't own a Sky Glass TV, nor will I ever wish to, but I speak from the personal experience of having a family member who is what you'd call an average casual. He expected so much from his Sky Glass television because he chose to swallow all the promotional hype. He genuinely believed he would get an identical experience from his stand alone Glass unit to what our far superior television and multi speaker system delivers.

There was absolutely no telling him because I'm his mother's 50 something old git husband after all, whilst he's a young 30 year old buck who knows everything there is to know on everything technology. It's something we don't even ever talk about now because he hates he was wrong and in me the I told you so is strong 🫢

If it works for you and delivered on your expectations that's great, I'm happy for you. But there's also plenty of people who have experienced the very opposite, thus ending up totally unsatisfied.

Folk who only want to hear positive stuff about Sky Glass will ignore those of us who don't rate it. Whilst those very much on the fence about Sky Glass, or not down with it at all, won't be won over no matter how much you and those like you heap praise on it.

End of the day, we can disagree without being disagreeable.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Yeah... I don't understand it. You go out your way to persuade people not to purchase Sky Glass....

£14 x 48 is 672. It isn't a even a grand, more closer to half a grand.

Not to mention to convenience and discounts provided.

That is cracking price for what it delivers, for finance.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

And I don't appreciate your words against my praises for sky. I will reiterate that I don't support sky.

Their offer... Is something I do support.

I just don't get it. You people hate sky so much you want to browse their forums and talk about it.

In my circle we call these people losers.

Do what you want.

Sky glass is advertised as everything it is. It isn't fooling anyone. They are not lying.

Why do you care???

@OMGADRAGON

You may wish to review your last post. Calling another poster a loser because you disagree with them isn't within the spirit of these forums, you may wish to reconsider how you have phrased it.

Additionally the post wasn't specifically aimed at you, but something all posters need to remember.
