I have turned on my sky glass today and found a new extra vivid mode. Any idea as what is different to the existing vivid mode? .

I'd imagine it means they've coaxed some additional brightness out of the backlight.

It's a lot brighter and the reds seem a lot redder. I've found I get different results on different apps.

Glass user for a few years now. I have made the best game settings capable for this TV to run and comparing those custom ones to extra vivid I have to say extra vivid makes the image WAY sharper than custom can but I'm not sure if this is because of the brightness due to the extra energy usage or if extra vivid surpasses that sharpness meter we get on custom. The biggest downside is that you NEED to use HDR for this to actually look somewhat decent on your games because the image becomes so sharp and bright that I swear I can count the pixels. There's not a lot of ways to optimise this new mode for gaming to make it look the best it can be because the game can either be too sharp or too bright. A better way to use this extra backlight is by adding this option to custom settings and give the user an option to somehow at least adjust the extra brightness/backlight. I'm not an expert here but I've been playing games for way too long to know that they shouldn't be looking like this on a ps5. I'll do more testing with the HDR to know for sure if this is the best way to play games on but unless we get a new update that fixes these issues I wouldn't hold out hope.
