I have the same issue and message tonight on Sky Stream. Thursday Oct 24th. We need know is this feature unavailable for certain free to view channels as that is a real backward step from record feature in other platforms.

Just seen this in a similar post. Seems like it's a known issue. If this is correct, Sky should disclose this information on point of sale. It's a step backwards for those that would record these programs in other platforms.
"Streaming rights are split into "as live" and "on demand " and sold separately rather than combined - So for the films you added the broadcaster would have only brought as live rights meaning that you had to watch live or not at all"

Your best bet to get this checked by Sky is to send an email to the Sky Viewer relations team to report it;
ViewerR@sky.uk
They do respond to emails with any updates for your queries or problems.

Thanks for this info, I shall use ViewerR@sky.uk to query this.
Ideally, if this behaviour is expected on sky stream on non sky channels, they are able to provide a list of channels where this issue exists. I guess, it will be an issue for all Freeview broadcasters where they don't buy the 'on demand streaming' rights for some of the content aired in live broadcast.
If this is the case, sky should be upfront with this to their customers and also change the misleading subscription error message on screen.

... even better, incorporate an icon or sign on the TV interface/guide that says the program of film is only available in live broadcast.

Can even get legend extra , says I need to upgrade my subscription to sky cinema,,,,

I just checked and I get the same thing when trying the channel legend Xtra
'to watch this channel, you need to upgrade your subscription'
When you press the upgrade option in the same message on the screen, it takes you to the Sky Cinema upgrade page.

Yep , its back on , what was the issue?

@Jporch316 please can I ask, do you know the official Sky answer to the original issue of this post, where you can't watch a programme or film from the start on some channels/content? (Apparently it's due to 'live only' or 'no on-demand' broadcast rights on some of the content). Also affecting scheduling same content to your playlist to watch later - it don't play/cannot be viewed.
I can now view Legend Xtra, so thank you

I believe it's a streaming rights issue .....

Ok cheers, it makes sense. In my opinion it would be good if Sky could introduce suitable messaging on the TV guide/interface for those programmes or films where this is the case.
