Hi, I'm thinking of buying Sky Glass 2 but I don't seem to be able to switch the additional ad skipping off, can this be done or do you need to take it out and then cancel it during the first month. Just trying to keep the costs down! Been with Sky for 24 years, do you think they would do a deal if I called them? Thanks.

There's usually an offer of 2 months free ad-skipping available on the MySky app. If you apply this offer and cancel it, it normally reappears. Add, cancel, repeat and you need never pay for it. I know several people who do or have done this for many months.

I think I may have already found the answer elsewhere, apologies!
Still interested to know if it's worth calling them to see if they will 'do a deal'?

See: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/ad-skipping-sky-glass
No you dont need to take it and if you do take it you can cancel this element via the app and they often have promotional periods for ad skipping.
It's worth noting it's not just sky content, itvx, 4od and 5 apps are also included.

Re: Do you have to have the ad skipping at £6 per month?
Thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately it wont allow me to not have it when I take out the contract so I will have to just cancel it straight away as I understand you have to give 31 days notice. Currently looking at £57 for the 55” over 4 years with Sky Showcase and the Skip Apps compared to the £40.50 I currently pay for Sky Q. I appreciate that includes £19 a month is to purchase the TV but the closer I can get it to what I pay now, the better.

Then maybe consider a Stream puck instead?

Thanks for the idea but I'm looking to reduce the clutter of my Bose sound system, Sky Q box, Apple TV etc. and to just have the TV on the wall with no trailing cables.
