Cancelled my SKY contract.  Firstly was told I would receive a new remote which hasn't happened. Now I have no home menu as I apparently need an aerial. The customer support person wouldn't tell me which one to buy!!  Help!! If you sell the TVs why don't you sell the necessary aerials also!!!  I now have A TV and a TV license which I'm paying for but no accessibility to free view TV!!  What sort of useless service is that!!!!!

You just need a TV ariel installed on your property in order to use the Glass like a traditional TV that is capable of receiving the DTT free to air channels (e.g BBC 1, BBC2, ITV 1/2/3/4 etc).

Note that when you connect the ariel to the Glass TV, the internet needs to be disabled on the TV in order for it to function like a standard dumb TV.

If you have Wifi enabled or an ethernet cable conencted into the TV, the DTT tuner won't work and only the streaming apps will be usuable on the TV.

The special remote for non-subscribers can typically take several weeks to be received and certainly won't be sent out until your cancellation notice is period is over. As you have to server 31 days notice when cancelling Sky, i would suggest to allow a couple of months from the day to you notice to when you should receive the remote, ( 31 days cancellation and 31 days for the remote to be dispatched and delivered).

Sky is not a terrestrial television broadcaster, and will have no idea what DTTV signal your address might receive: nor is it their business to know that and their contact centre staff will have zero relevant training.

You could try the Freeview website for an indication of regional channel availability, and then acquire an indoor antenna: if that doesn't provide adequate reception then you'll need to commission a rooftop mount and coaxial cabling down to the set from a local specialist.

No other television manufacturer would sell you an aerial or organise its installation either.

@Jurgen249

As @MarkGoldsmith indicates, realistically a non-subscription Glass television is rather more versatile when used with a separate Freeview receiver box* over HDMI instead of the built-in DTTV tuner which is mostly there for regulatory purposes in overseas markets.

*preferably one with Freeview Play on board, and recording facilities if desired.

Without a contract with Sky the TV is basically a dumb monitor with limited app access over WiFi or as said connect to an aerial and no smart options.

Glass 'smarter than a smart TV'.

If you have no intention of subscribing to Glass/Stream services via Sky cut your loses and sell it and buy a TV that has the flexibility of multi broadcast receiving options. A smart TV maybe.

@Jurgen249 you should still have access to apps if the Glass TV is connected to the internet ,,,, do you still pay for a BB service?

The apps for iPlayer, ITVX, Channel4, and my5 should still give access to their broadcast channels without a terrestrial aerial😉
