Apartment Block: Logic of Switching from Q to Stream

Morning Community,

Hope all of you are well?

Ive had SkyQ in my Apartment Block for a while now. In general, I have really enjoyed Sky Q and in an ideal world would carry on with it.

Primarily, I use SkyQ for UHD Live Sport. I can use other devices or native Apps for my streaming (Netflix, Amazon, BT Sport) so my Q experience is largely all about live high picture quality sport. I very rarely record any programmes.

Unfortunately, I'm getting the dreaded satellite signal issues in our apartment block - usually on ITV, Sky F1 and a handful of other Sports channels.

When we did the initial set up 3 years ago, the engineer did notice a couple of channels that didn't hit the required MER signal test, but they were channels I don't watch (Mainly international news channels) and Sky Sports and Terrestrial channels passed with flying colours, so I insisted we went ahead and I've no issue with that- for the most part it's been brilliant.

(FYI- our block was only set up for Sky+ so the installation engineer fitted the adapter into the comms unit to enable Sky Q)

As I say, since around Christmas, I'm having some real instability on the sports channels I love. The Building managers have about as much enthusiasm for conducting a satellite calibration as I do for watching dross like Love Island, so the chances of me getting this fixed by the building owners is looking slim.

All that in mind- SKY Stream begins to sound like a logical switch to make. However, the myriad of bugs under discussion on this forum is giving me doubts.

Are Sky likely to let me have a months trial if I call them? - that way if things don't work out at least I haven't binned off my Q contract and il have to get stern with the building management.

Key questions for me re: Stream-

-How is picture quality vs Sky Q? (Both HD and UHD)

-How reliable is the live TV broadcast? (I've got 100MB WiFi, 200MB Ethernet - though I realise hardware caps Ethernet at 100. Only 3 devices connected to the internet.)

-What is the latency/delay of Stream vs Sky Q?

-Are the usual On Demand Sky documentaries/content al available in the same way they are on Q?
-Do we know how Bitrate of Sky Stream compares with Q or other stream services?

Finally- should I do anything that could improve the satellite feed? I do sometimes wonder if the satellite cables might be slightly loose in the quad faceplate that we connect to in the apartment wall- would a re-tightening or new Sat cables make any difference?

Many thanks guys - hope I'm making sense!

Effectively every Q user taking up Stream is on a 'trial' period just due to the normal T&Cs: Sky even advise not returning Q hardware within that month to facilitate easier reversion.
