Does not going into the settings and selecting restart device not have the same affect as unplugging?
04 Dec 2024 07:25 PM
Nope. So when you get the game on you want to play, the screen is default 50hz, leave it on & unplug the TV off at the wall, upon restart younger the sky menu page which is 60hz, go straight to the game & it's still 60hz & then there's no issue, but turning over, even to the Xbox menu, is 50hz & then it doesn't go back to 60hz when you go back to the game.
It's a software issue, the TV basically isn't switching between 50 & 60 Hz. American screens are 60 by default, European ones are 50, most new gen games are 60, but console dashboards are 50.
It should be fixable

Any updates @Daniel-F ... I know these things are rolled out with other stuff in updates, so any vague idea when the next updates due?
Thanks

But can you not leave the game on and go into the settings on the sky glass and click restart device. Surely this has the same effect as unplugging just without the unplugging lol. Your tv effectively goes through the same process as in starting up etc with the sky logo.

Nope, for whatever reason it doesn't work.

Using an Xbox as an example, to clear the cache you have to turn the plug off, restarting it from the console doesn't clear the cache. Probably something similar at play.

When the TV is restarted through the settings, although you visually see it restarting, the operating system for the TV is still running in the background and isn't restoring to a "cold" state if you like.
Bit hard to explain but when it's physically switched off and on again, it's like a fresh start for the TV and it isn't stuck in any particular video mode because nothing has loaded up yet. Hence the glitch.
Sorry I'm typing this fast so it probably won't make sense, I'll try better later lol.

Nah you're good, made perfect sense 👍

As of the latest software released a few days ago this is STILL not fixed...incredibly frustrating!
17 Dec 2024 08:59 PM
Yeah it's clearly not priority, & beyond frustrating given how distanced updates are from each other. Not only am I worried about damaging the TV by having to the turn the plug on & off several times a day but my plugs in a really awkward position & it's causing issues with an old knee injury. I'm borderline on a new TV or giving up gaming 😞

Are we sure this has not been fixed?
The last 2 nights I have been on my Xbox the issue has not been there. I have not messed about looking into settings or anything because due to it working I have not wanted to mess about with it haha

It was still doing for me yesterday (19/12/24)
20 Dec 2024 08:31 AM
100% still happening, I turn off now by default but just checked by putting skyn sports on & turning back & it's still there.
There could be a setting turned off for you, you could be playing a game it's not super noticeable on, you may be playing on non allm & not realise. But we all have the same update & it's still there. Still unplayable

I heavily notice the judders when on my racing sim games and that is what I played last 2 nights and it did not do it. Only difference the last to nights is my daughter was watching YouTube before bed time and after she has gone to bed that's when I have gone on the xbox. Makes me wonder if the content she was watching was maybe 30 or 60fps and when I have turned the xbox on on pressed the xbox button on my controller (this auto changes to xbox input) then the frame rate has matched the xbox. Who knows, we are all still in the dark about this issue but last 2 nights I have not seen it for whatever reasons

My Xbox also updated the other day as I noticed the latest update has by default turned on dolby vision gaming.
Not sure if that might have something to do with it
