10 minute auto turn off

My sky streaming puck has turns itself off after 10 minutes of inactivity or I pause the program. It's so annoying. I don't see the point of being able to pause a program, and If I get called away, or I go and do chores etc, I come back to the TV to find the TV is off and then turning it on and finding out the program has finished and I'm unable to rewind to where I was

Going to settings  and check  that you have not setup a sleep  timer

Re: 10 minute auto turn off

Thanks for the reply. Ive had sky glass and a puck for over a year and it's just recently started turning itself off within a stupidly short amount of time. I've tried every setting and there isn't an option for eco mode. Sleep timer is also turned off.

@peter-marlow+1966 the symptons being describe is indeed the functionality of the eco setup of the pucks which can't be turned off.

Thats the behaviour, if the puck is idle for 10 minutes it switches off ( you get a message on the screen briefly to say to pick up the remote). Basically idle will be when left on the home screen or paused.

One way to get around it is to open an app, as from what i can tell the Sky OS can't determine if you are idle in a third party app and therefore it can't auto switch off after 10 minutes it will be a couple of hours instead.

@Sky ...Why aren't users given the opportunity to choose whether to turn this function on or off. Or to adjust how long to set the inactivity timeout too? If I want to pause a program, for an hour, or however long, while cooking tea or answering a phone call, that should be my decision

Re: 10 minute auto turn off

I think it's probably more to do with Sky's servers. Unlike a Q recording the pause is on Sky's servers, not the puck, and I suspect it may put a strain on the system if left too long.

Perhaps - but you seem to get longer with Glass so if it were purely a server thing you would expect the same behaviour across the platform.
