Sky Q Amazon Alexa unification.

Hello, first I thought I would give a background on myself  So I am 34, Quadriplegic via Neurological Corruption of cognitive control portion of the brain. Or my brain lazy and not listen to me when I want it to move my arm ect.

I have been disabled now for 3 years and with minimal to no functional usage remotes are always difficult.

I do live in a care home but I have invested into having everything in my room controllable by Amazon Alexa. So on my bad or worse days I can just ask alexa on my watch or echo show to turn the TV on, turn it up, tell the xbox to change to Netflix, disney ect.

The only thing in my room that I cannot control with Alexa is Sky Q.

On an accessibility side of life, Alexa would be the ultimate for those of us with limited to no use of hands to actually get a full independent use of Sky Q. Instead it's calling carers to change the channel or having to share my pin with people I wouldn't trust with a Gold Fish but due to circumstances I really don't have a choice.

On a marketing side of things, Sky Q and Alexa working together skipping down the road.

Did anyone notice its started to rain money? Lol

So please support your motor functionaly impared customers with something that is useful and gives us independent control over the product instead of having to wait for goldfish killers to come and take an hour to listen to the Instructions and by the end of it we have missed the program we wanted to watch or just lost the will to carry on.

Many thank and I look forward to your response.

Remember if you don't respond or say no you are openly admitting you don't like those with mortor function impairments .

@TrilB2  You're not addressing Sky directly although they may read the forum, you won't get a response from them here.

Alexa integration would be very useful as suggested.  Perhaps you could add this to the Ideas section of the forum, if not already there.

Urgent Notice for Sky+ users: as of 29th October 2024 you will no longer be able to pair your viewing card to a Sky+/Sky+HD box that the card is not already paired to, so if your Sky box breaks you cannot replace it and you'll need to move to either Sky Q, Sky Glass or Sky Stream to access Sky content

@TrilB2 @I have alerted certain people to your post. Not sure if there will be a response but it has been passed on.

Thank you, it took me ages to actually type that thing.

Hopefully it can become a reality and life can become simpler.

@TrilB2 Yes it would be a useful feature for all customers as I'm sure it's been mentioned way back when Sky Q was released.

Hi @TrilB2

Thanks for the suggestion.

As I'm sure you're aware, we do have a voice control feature built in to Sky Q, but of course I fully understand that for some people with motor impairments, the need to press and hold the voice button on the remote may be a barrier to using it.

I don't know if Alexa will ever be the solution, but we are conscious of this issue and your feedback is noted.

Many thanks,

Dave
