Editor's Note:
Thank you all for your comments on the original article.
It's understandably not ideal for those whose viewing experience centres and relies upon using the Sky+ App daily. Your concerns and frustrations have been heard, and we're working as hard as possible with the relevant teams to ensure that your individual needs are met as effectively as possible.
If you have the Sky+ app installed on your device, you can continue to use it after this date – however it will receive no further updates or fixes.
Reduction in curated content
From May 30th, 2023, the top rail of the app will no longer display the latest content from Sky – however you can still browse for content via search, the TV guide or the content sections including Catch up TV and Top picks.
Customers who have previously downloaded the Sky+ app can reinstall it from Apple’s App Store of the Google Play store. Make sure you are signed into your device using the same Apple ID or Google account originally used to download the Sky+ app.
To redownload from the Apple App store:
Open the App Store on your device and tap on the account icon in the top right of the screen
Tap on “Purchased” then “My Purchases”
Search for “Sky+”, then tap the cloud icon to reinstall the app.
To redownload from the Google Play store:
Open the Google Play app on your device and tap on the account icon in the top right.
Tap on “Manage apps and device”
Filter by “Not installed”, then scroll to the Sky+ app and tap the name.
Tap “Install”
Note: New users cannot download the app for the first time. However, as long as you use the same Apple / Google ID, you should be able to follow the re-download steps on a new device.
We recommend downloading the Sky Go app which will enable you to schedule Remote Recordings and Downloads to your Sky+ box.
The Sky Go app also lets you stream selected live TV channels and a wide range of On Demand content based on your Sky TV subscription. Its available at no extra cost with your Sky TV subscription.
