Sky New App and Apple TV Issue

Is anybody in the U.S. having issues with the Sky News app working? A few weeks ago it stopped working on both my Apple TV boxes.

I have performed all suggested troubleshooting steps including deleting and downloading the app again.

 

When you open the app the screen is simply black and nothing shows up. If I download the app on my iPhone it works just fine so it is definately an Apple TV issue.

   

I own two different Apple TV models and the Sky New app doesn’t work on either of them.  

   

A1842 - Apple TV 4K   

A1625 - Apple TV HD   

tvOS 18.4 (22L255) on both models.

After my last post I actually found a solution.

1. First make sure the app is closed. 

2. Open the app (blank screen appears)

3. Exit the app without closing it (home button)

4. Select the app again.

5. A privacy option screen will appear and select "accept."

 

After accepting the privacy option the app loaded just fine. 

 

After performing these steps on both my Apple TV devices the app loads just fine on  either device.

Until I repeated these steps on my second Apple TV I had to minimize the app and open again each time I ran it on my first device.

 

Makes no sense but hope this works for you as well.

If you live in the USA then sorry but this is a website for Sky customers in the UK and Ireland only.

OK I'm sorry. When I contacted customer support and explained I was from the U.S. they suggested I use this forum if their troubleshooting steps did not work. I guess I wait for the issue to fix itself.

I have the exact same issue. I have four different Apple TVs of varying ages, and on my newest one the screen simply is black whenever I launch. I've tried everything recommended, and my only thought is to reset the whole shebang, but I'm hesitant to do that because of how tedious it is to reload all the other apps. So I guess I just won't watch the sky news this one TV

you sound authoritative but how do you know this? It says you are not a sky employee so I am wondering what your comment and information is based on?

This was happening to me as well and I'm based in the UK. Your solution has resolved it for me. @tleinss

Glad I could help out others. Since my last post it's been hit or miss. Sometimes the app loads just fine and sometimes I have to minimize and go back in.
