just wrote a post in the community website and realised as I hit the post button, that i had made a few mistakes

But was not able to find the edit button

The edit button can be found via the 3 dots just to the right of the time stamp on your post. It will be there for a few hours only since you made the post.

You have to be level 3 or above to be able to edit your own posts (and only then within about two hours of the original being posted) and I see you are level 1.
