@nexus+sixx yes, there have been recent posts reporting that the app password generator isn't working - with a 'you're not connected' type of error message.

You could try clearing your browser cache (cookies etc) after closing all sky.com websites to see if that resolves it. Otherwise it might be a call to Sky, I'm afraid.

I have just tried, and successfully generated a new password.

Instead of using the well known direct links I accessed the generator via this page,  so perhaps try that yourself.

Hi

thanks for your reply.

I have just tried your new link using my iPad but it still comes up with the same error message. "Sorry, something seems to have gone wrong. Please check your connection and try again later."

what hardware did you use to successfully generate the password and what options did you select?
thanks

I used Edge on Windows 10, and selected  computer and Windows. I believe the generated password is the same no matter what you chose, it's just a record used to identify the different passwords, but that is no use since they removed the option to rescind old passwords.

Edit: I've just tried again using Edge as above and it failed with the"something went wrong". So I tried in Chrome selecting Tablet and Apple and it worked. Perhaps you just need to keep persevering.

That is interesting as I have tried Outlook 2024, and that still didn't have OAuth as an option. I'll have to have another go.

Re: sky email generate an app password

Hi

The new version of  Outlook does work for me and doesnt need  an additional password.

However,  I prefer to use the classic version of Outlook which does require a new generated password.

I have just tried this evening and the password generator is now working  for me as well.

Thnaks for all your help etc

cheers

@nexus+sixx

Yes "new" Outlook (which is basically the web version packaged as an app) doesn't require a generated password, but @scotty10467 said that Outlook from Office 2022 & 2024 (which will be "classic" Outlook) also doesn't require it for them.

I did wonder if New Outlook was what they were refering too.

Thanks for confirming the generator worked for you, it really does seem hit and miss, as it sometimes it works for me and sometimes not, and I can't figure out why.
