When trying to merge my Sky emails with gmail I get error message

How do I merge my Sky emails with gmail which is my new email address? I get the message that " there was a problem connecting to pop.tools.Sky.com

I think you need to use pop.mail.yahoo.com because Sky moved their  email service over to Yahoo! many years ago.

Sky still list pop.tools.sky.com in the instructions here.

 

I wonder if the issue might be that Gmail really doesn't like POP anyway, and has to have its own setting changed.

It's because Gmail is acting as an app when fetching emails from Sky via POP, therefore it needs to use a generated app password. https://www.sky.com/sky-yahoo-mail/manage-apps

You can use either Sky or Yahoo POP servers.
