Webmail test not respsonding

Hi,

I have set up a contact page on my IONOS WEBSITE.  My attempt to send a test page to Yahoo using the yahoo smtp has been unsuccessful. I have used both ports 465 SSL and 587 TLS without success.

Be grateful for any tips that may help resolve this issue

Thanks

Paul

You need to explain better what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to send with a Sky email address?

Re: Webmail test not respsonding

I'm trying to send a test email from my IONOS website. The test email is for a contact page I'm trying to set up. When I try to send the test email from the contact page it says unsuccessful. I have entered my yahoo smtp port and ssl as standard I entered my password and email.
not sure what else I can do. IONOS customer service said to ask sky if my smtp and ssl or TLD is correct

Thanks for reading

If you are trying to use the Sky SMTP server, but with a non Sky email "from" address, you will need to register the address as a "send-only" address

The correct setting are smtp.mail.sky.com, port 465 SSL and you will need to use your sky email and password as authentication.

You register the 3rd party address in the Sky settings here:

  • send-only.png

If you have a Yahoo address, why are you asking on the Sky email forum, or do you mean you have a Sky|Yahoo address?

As I asked before, we really need to understand just what you are trying to achieve. before we can be specific. What address are you trying to send from (not the actual address just just a partial one), what SMTP server you are trying to use?

OK, so what email address are you sending from and to, or are you using your Sky address as both?

Could you show us the settings you need to setup?

Apologies to @abbottp but my reply is wrong.

The correct SMTP server is smtp.tools.sky.com.

I think the error occured because it is also possible to use the Yahoo server which is smtp.mail.yahoo.com, and I typed it from memory.

So sorry.

Another thought is that you may need to use a generated password instead of your usual Sky password for authentication.

I've tested it and it does appear the generated password is required.
