Verification Code Sent To Unknown Email Address

Hello folks

 

I've noticed recently that when first trying to log into my sky Yahoo email account, I get asked to enter my email address and password, twice instead of the usual once. The verification code is then sent to me via text. 

 

In any event, this morning when trying to log in, I entered my email address and password once, and a message popped up saying the verification code had been sent to an email address I didn't recognise. Should I be concerned?

The verfication code should be sent to a mobile phone number by text and not an email address so after you saw that unknown email address did the text still arive so you got access to your account ?

The verfication code should be sent to a mobile phone number by text and not an email address so after you saw that unknown email address did the text still arive so you got access to your account ?

No, I had to start again with the sign in process, entering my email and password twice, then the code came through.

This is all a bit odd. Verification Codes are only sent by text to the mobile number entered when 2 step verification was set up, as @caesarome posted. They're not emailed.

Thanks very much for the help, and I thought it was odd too. 

 

Do you think I should be concerned about anything, as in someone else getting access to my emails?

If it were me, I'd be concerned simply because it's not normal behaviour. I would be using my Recovery Code to turn off 2 step verification, changing my password and then setting up 2 step log in again.

Thank you for all the help, I called sky and have  changed my password. On the face of it, all appears OK.
