Unable to access my sky emails/log-in using an old iPad

Until recently, I was using an old iPad (model 9.3.5) to access my email. I work for a local charity and being able to access the emails meant I did not have to print off paper versions for meetings. About four weeks ago, the iPad had completely lost its battery charge, however, when I charged it up, I was no longer able to access the sky log-in nor my sky emails. Any thoughts about what I can do? I have restored the iPad back to factory settings, but it has made no difference. Also have tried adding my sky (Yahoo) email account through the settings app, but I keep getting either a message from Yahoo saying to try later or the sky page is just hanging.

Whatever web browser you using @Mark.rcb have you tried a different one and have you tried using this link:

Hi @jayach. Thanks for replying. I was accessing the emails through the sky home page using the Safari web browser. Tried your link, but the message I got was page not found.

Hi @caesarome, thanks for replying. The problem I have is that the iPad is so old I can't install any new apps, so stuck with Safari!! The link you kindly provided was not a live link, but when I typed it into the browser it could not find the page. Appreciate your help anyway.

Hi @jayach. Thanks for providing the link. This works perfectly on my iPhone, but not when using the iPad. The page opens, but just hangs and I never get to see the log-in boxes. Appreciate your help, but will try Sky/Yahoo tomorrow. I suspect it is just a problem with the iPad, as I can access my account using all other devices.

 I very much doubt Sky will be much help, but yes try them.

As it worked before the power loss/factory reset it should still work now.

Is Safari able to browse other web sites?

You should be able to set up the email up via Apple Mail (as you tried) but if it isn't automatically detecting the settings you will need to do a manual setup.

The details you will need are:

Host Name/Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com

Security type: SSL

Port: 993

Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: SSL
Outgoing server port: 465

Use your full Sky email address as username and for the password, use one you can gererate here:

Hi @jayach. Success. Thank you for persevering with my query. Very much appreciated. You were right, in that I had to use one of the sky generated imap passwords in order for the account to be added to Apple mail. Thanks again.
