Turning off Sky 2 step verification

What if you never set up two-step in the first place and it has just randomly started happening recently? I never set it up on anything if I can help it as it is a huge pain. Someone suggested calling Sky and providing a clear instruction that the two-step verification that has been independently initiated by Sky without the account holder's permission is removed immediately. Not sure if it'll work but that's my next step.

Sky's terms and conditions specify that Sky Yahoo Mail is a variable service which may change.  You could always cancel your Sky Yahoo Mail service if you consider that two step verification is onerous.

It's not so much onerous as a PITA to have to put in another code when I'm sat 10 feet away from my Sky box and trying to log into my own account on my own laptop. Guess Sky are following Microsoft's lead in enforcing stuff on us we neither need nor want.

Why are you  signing in whilst sitting 10 feet away from your Sky box?

Some signin's allow you to tick a box to remain logged in for 30 days, but some don't.

It makes no sense why.

You would have been shown your recovery code when you set up 2FA.

Why do you ask?

@titch184 your Recovery Code has limited value now, since  2 step verification is now mandatory. Even if you use your Recpvery Code to turn it off, you'll be required to,set up 2 step verification again when you next log in.

Hi Forum

The solution does not work for me.

I simply login using my user name + my recovery code.   Which I have definitely kept available, from around two months back.

I then get the message in red saying it's the wrong password.    I am missing something here.   The solution to get wrid of 2 stage verification has never worked for me.   Any ideas?       Thanks.

Thank you for your quick reply.

As I thought, 2 stage verification is now mandatory and you can't get round it.

So why does Sky put down a 'solution' from Neil-45, when clearly this 'solution' does not work any more.  I'm fed up with seeing the same solution quoted on this forum, when it clearly  does not work for me and presumably, for others, too. 

Or am I mistaken ?

@NicholasLBH There is no way to turn off 2FA anymore, however you shouldn't get that message when you try it.

So are you able to sign in at all?

Sky doesn't mark the solution, @Mark39 did 3 years ago, and it was the solution then.
