Sky.com email issue

Hi

I've had a sky.com email address for 17 odd years now. I've got a new samsung s23 and trying to get my emails working. It's asking me to generate an app password by logging on the website. I've logged into my account, clicked the head in the corner, clicked yahoo mail but it's saying I don't have a yahoo account and can't create one.

I've tried adding the sky.com account manually to Google mail but when it asked me for email address and password it says it doesn't recognise them.

Anyone know how to get round this. My sky.com address is used for most my log ins and accounts so don't want to lose it

Thanks

Re: Sky.com email issue

Manually about 3 years ago as it's been linked to the email app on my old phone for the last 3 years. I think I'm just going to have to forward all saved emails to my Gmail account and change my email address on everything I can think of.

That might be the issue as you have to login to it online to keep it active I believe as not doing so could see it shut down although usually Sky would email you a few times before this would happen.

Are you still receiving Sky emails via the app on the old phone ?

I really don't think it is necessary to actually log in to the Sky account to keep the email active.

As long as it is accessed regularly (via POP or IMAP)  I believe that is all that is all that is necessary.

The fact the account is still working on the old phone seems to prove that.

So, if you try to log in here: https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details with just the ID (the bit before the @sky,com in the email address) and your password, what do you get?

I did wonder that then stumbled across this:

To let us know you're still using your account, sign in to your Sky Yahoo Mail account at least once every six months.

And yet, @Shona seems to have been using it for 3 years without doing so.

I believe making a connection to the mail servers, which is authenticated, counts as signing in, but I doubt we will ever get proof one way or the other.
