Sent emails disappeared

Can you tell me why my sent emails have disappeared. I cannot find a way of stopping this happening.

Yahoo has an unpleasant and regularly reported habit of randomly deleting emails from your Inbox, Sent mail etc.

There's a small chance of recovering them from Yahoo here. It's designed for Yahoo Mail, rsther than Sky Yahoo Mail so it may not work: https://uk.help.yahoo.com/kb/account/recover-lost-deleted-emails-sln2552.html

There's less likelihood of emails disappearing if you move or copy them to a folder you've created yourself.

I have recently noticed that a whole chunk of sent emails have disappeared from my Sky Yahoo email. Sent items jump from 2020 to March 2023. This is hugely annoying. Any ideas how I can get it investigated. The link that was posted previously does not cover the issue I have. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this.

Hi... I now blind copy any email I send so I always have a copy. I was not successful in retrieving my lost emails.

@Pat+Dennis you've nothing to lose by trying the recovery process even if on the face of it, your situation is out of scope.

If it doesn't work, I suspect you're snookered, I'm afraid. While I've no doubt Sky will apologise, I imagine they'll refer you to Yahoo, and I doubt Yahoo will be willing to carry out any form of investigation.

this has happened again. My sent emails jump from 2019 to November 2023. This is infuriating. Sky has done as much as it can but emails cannot be retrieved. The Sky person said that when Yahoo update their systems this can happen. I will change to gmail and keep the Sky one open. Is it correct that there needs to be action on the sky email to avoid it being deleted?

Yes, you just need to log in regularly to Sky Yahoo Mail, to keep it active. I'd suggest once per month.
