No mobile to set up authentication

Sky / Yahoo email has automatically put me on the two factor authentication set up. As I don't have a mobile phone I cannot complete this (it won't accept landlines), but I can't go back to accessing emails without two factor - how can I do this?

This is being rolled out to us all I'm afraid.

On what device do you usually login to your email account, so a PC, tablet etc ?

You could try using the email app on it to access your emails as that will work.

The only issue I can for see in doing this is that in order to keep your email account open you do have to login online at least once every 4-6 months I believe.

Hmmm... just tried doing that, but it seems I have to log in to my Sky email so that it can sync, so not possible.

What app did you use, and did you select the account type as Yahoo? If it is a Windows PC is it 10 or 11?

I'm having a similar problem.

I do have a mobile though, but the verifcation codes are not coming.

Have you checked your spam folder?

I use the online Yahoo email (I have for several years), and the machine is Windows 11.

I spoke to a real person at Sky yesterday about it, and they said there was a little known form for them to fill in at their end, and it would be cleared within 24 hours. Now it's 36 hours later, and I still can't get access.

@T_and_cats I don't know what this particular form does. Sky have been able, however, to remove 2 step verification for a while. But now it's mandatory I suspect you'll just be prompted to set it up again when you log in.

Do you have Microsoft 365 (Office)?

In that case, you should be able to use Classic Outlook with a generated password and get your emails that way.
