I have multiple email accounts and have added them all to Outlook to keep things 'simple'. I recently opened outlook to send an email and was asked to sign back into my Yahoo accounts. I managed to add my main account but the other keeps returning an error.
When I enter my existing Sky.com email address I get a message stating "Sorry, you can no longer create a new email account via Sky. We no longer offer this service. If you're an existing Sky/Yahoo mail customer please sign in". When I click the continue button it says "Sorry, we could not sign you in to YahooImap. Please try again later". It then gives me another chance to enter the email address, which concludes with the same result, then it gives up until hit 'send and receive', then the whole thing starts again.
The same thing happens if I try to update my password with an app specific one, it won't let me log in to change it.
I did find another thread that hinted at the same problem but I couldn't make head nor tail of the steps they said they took to fix it. Any clues please?

I would not expect that when adding the email to Outlook, it may happen if signing into the web with an email address that doesn't exist.
If you give a link to this other thread, perhaps we could decipher it for you.
Edit:
Yes Outlook will need a generated password, it won't work with the account password.
Is the address in Outlook and you are just trying to update the password?

I have just signed into the webmail version, so the account is still active and accessible.
I will try and find this other thread again, then I'll try and post a link to it. BRB.

I take that to mean that they had to make sure the generated password they were using was generated for the correct account. (each account will need it's own unique generated password)
Are you are trying to add another Sky email account to Outlook, or trying to update an account already installed, but not working?

The account was added and had been working for months, then all of a sudden it asked me to sign back in. I have 3 Sky accounts (one I was allocated by sky, one for my stuff and a joint one for me and the wife). The allocated one and the joint one I re-added without a problem but my account won't work.

Is that correct, and if so what error message does Outlook give?

Correct. Outlook displays a pop-up box asking me to sign back into my Yahoo mail. When I enter the email address, it does what I described above and won't let me proceed any further. This method worked for my other accounts but not for this one.
I can log into the address online via a web browser, yes.

No, this is Outlook on a Windows laptop, I have an Office 365 subscription.

At this point I would just check that all the accounts are in Outlook.
The way I like to check is open control panel (use the search bar to find it)
Type MAIL in control panel's search and click the Mail (Microsft Outlook) option.
Choose setup email accounts and direcories.
Check that all 3 accounts seem to be there O.K.
Select the account that is having problems, and if all looks O.K. try changing the password there for a generated one. https://www.sky.com/sky-yahoo-mail/manage-apps
Make sure you generate the password in the same browser that has the email open on it. (to make sure it will be for the correct account)
Use the copy option on the generator page, and paste in in over the existing password.
Hopefully when you restart Outlook, it should all work.

Yeah, I can't change the password. When I try, it asks me to log in and the whole thing starts again.
The account is definitely there, it only shows the sign-in thing when it's trying to send /receive emails from that particular account.

I might try your suggestion next time I'm on my laptop. Thanks.
