Is this a scam e mail?

I've received an e mail today from Sky that I would instantly consider to be a scam, however, it looks very authentic with no spelling mistakes and lots of Sky detail so would appreciate if anybody else can confirm or otherwise.

It says that my email address is queued for deactivation as a result of a continuous error received from this email address (code 505).  I'd normally ignore it but obviously I don't want my email address deactivated.

Thanks very much.

Carole

My wife has just recieved the same e-mail. Looks like a scam to me as the sender has a aol.com address.

Marked it as spam and reported it to sky.

I haven't seen that before. Perhaps another Community member has come across it?

It probably is not genuine, but I think I would give Sky a call to check.

Re: Is this a scam e mail?

Thanks.  I guess if others are getting it then it's most likely spam.  If it is, they're getting a lot better at the content which is worrying! I am cynical about most things by nature 🙂

Usually the way to tell is if there is a link in the email that tv wants you to click to "stop the deactivation".

@Mastermind52 I've referred your most recent post to Sky, as it contains a couple of links at least which are not genuine.

Others links point to the same Sky website page although they purport to be linking to different ones - another clear indication that it's fraudulent.

Then that is how you tell it isn't from Sky as Sky would never ask you to keep your email account active by clicking on a link so if you get anymore of these then mark them as spam so they get deleted.
