Email from sky broadband re email account closing

Hi All - received an email from (Removed) advising my email account ending in (Removed) is being closed next month due to inactivity.

wondering if this is a valid email, if so confused firstly would come from the Broadband team, and secondly  have been using my (Removed) email address on a daily basis for the past 10 years.

on call with sky support at the moment who strangely are unable to verify if this a genuine email or not. all very confusing.

seems a rogue email, but can't risk my email account being deactivated!

@DPCross

In this case that email is from Sky as you have been sent it because either you don't use your Sky email address or if you then it is because you don't login at Sky.com to access it. To avoid it being closed you do need to make sure you login at Sky.com on a regular basis.

Does the email refer to you by name or just a generic Dear user/Dear customer? A genuine email usually refers to you by name.
If you hover your mouse over the links do they point to a genuine Sky address?

Are you using that address via an email client or via the web? If via an email client then try signing into your account online & sending an email that way just once to 'reactivate' the account.

Virginia.
I don’t work for Sky.
If I have helped then please leave a like.

Re: Email from sky broadband re email account closing

Thanks for your response.
shame can't seem to include the email addresses on this chat but it does seem a genuine Sky address, although when speaking to the Sky support team they could neither confirm or deny this.
The email received does reference my name, which as you mention also suggest it is valid.

This is all very odd, and really don't want my email switched off after 10+ years of using it on a daily basis!

@DanC2 we're aware that Sky are sending emails to customers whose email accounts appear to be inactive, advising that their account will be closed in January. You shouldn't be receiving this email if you're logging in directly via sky.com, rather than via an email app or client.

How do you access your emails @DanC2 because as stated above you might have received this if you do login to your online account which you need to do on a regular basis to keep your email account open.
