I own my own domain name and forward this through my Sky account so I never need to change my email address if I change providers but when I try to add it on Outlook I get the following message:-
Your email service provider does not provide the
option of logging in using a secure connection for
IMAP.
n order to establish a secure connection, youl
email server must provide a certificate to Outlook in
order to prove its identity. The certificate that your
email server is providing is valid. However, the
domain name (the portion of your email address
that appears after the @ symbol) is not listed in the
ertificate. Without this, Outlook cannot guarantee
that you're connecting to your email server.
You might still be able to connect, but your
connection will not be secure. This is a problem
with your email service, so you'll need to contact
your IT Admin or email service provider to resolve
this issue. Please let them know that their email
domain presented does not match the common
name or subject alternate names (SANs) in their
certificate. Please note that the Outlook Mobile
Support team is unable to resolve this issue for you

If resolution requires Sky's involvement, I would think it highly unlikely thay they'll be able to help. Practically, you might be better off choosing a different email app or client.

I have my own domain but I'm not an Internet provider so it's routed through my Sky email.
Any incoming mail is fine but if I send an email it goes out from my Sky address as it won't let me set up the one with my domain due to the error message I attached earlier.

Im not sure if you can use your Sky email account to send emails from another domain like you are trying to do.

@caesarome no just the Sky SMTP but I used to be able to send emails.
Maybe easier just to set up a Gmail account and try it that way 🤷🏼♀️

Find out moreAssuming you are saying you are trying to use the Sky SMTP server to send emails, that always used to work, but you had to authenticate using your Sky credentials and register your domain email address with the server, however the error message is complaining about the IMAP server, which would not be Sky.

You say it used to work. Was that also with Outlook and are you sure you are configuring it the same?
Is it Outlook on desktop or mobile?

@jayach yes it used to work with Outlook on my laptop but then suddenly stopped and can't get it to work at all on my mobile.

I've just tested and I can still send using a different domain email address via the Sky SMTP server using Outlook on desktop.
However it does need the domain email to be registered with the Sky server, and it does need to use a generated password, not your Sky email account password. And I'm using an old version of Outlook .
As for Outlook on mobile I suspect it may be difficult to configure due to the "locked down" nature of that app. As I said the error message you showed seems to be complaining about the IMAP server not the SMTP one.

No, they wont have a clue what you are asking.
It is done via the "Send-only email address" in the configuration within your Sky email settings.
And if you say it used to work, it must already be set up.
Do you have anything set up on your Sky email settings there?

@jayach it just stopped working over night so I figured it must be something that Sky had done.
It's all getting a bit technical now and going over my head and it's hard to explain in a message. Might give my domain provider a call, they should definitely know what's going on.

Sounds like a good idea, they will probably supply an SMTP service for a small fee, and then no need to involve Sky at all.
