Apple mail El Capitan timeout

My Apple mail has suddenly stopped connecting . I have tried removing the account and reinstalling with the password generator but no joy.

 

Can access via the browser and on my Android phone, but not using the Apple mail app on my desktop

This is the error message I am getting...

 

"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Yahoo!” or try again.

The server returned the error: Connections to the server “imap.tools.sky.com” on the default ports timed out."

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

When setting it back up if it asks you to select an email provider select Yahoo from the list and see if then works for you.

And no need to use a generated password, if you do it this way.

I'm having similar problems with Apple mail.

I have tried removing and re-installing the account (as Yahoo) and used the generated password. But still can't connect. Works fine in the web browser and on android.

I have sent a test email to myself on Apple mail. It is still stuck in my outbox - but has bizarrely appeared in my Android inbox! So it seems some communication is happening?
